2024 ELECTIONS | ANC's POSSIBLE COALITION PARTNERS

99.89% of the votes are still counted, and we are still waiting for two provinces to come in. Gauteng is currently at 9.28%, and the Eastern Cape is 99.96% complete.

If you are fair about the results, they are pretty much a foregone conclusion now as far as the IEC is concerned. Yes, there is a lot of talk about the various complaints coming through to the IEC and various disputes, which still have to be dealt with before the IEC can announce any kind of result. But as the numbers stand at the moment, it's quite clear what the political landscape of the country is going to look like over the next five years.

It's going to be a coalition government; it's inevitable, at least for the foreseeable future. Let's discuss possible outcomes as far as coalitions are concerned about the complications around that, but I also want to touch on the fact that there are so many complaints from political parties, and it's always great to have Professor William G., chair of the Democracy Works Foundation, joining us this morning.

"Prof G Hello, good to have you in South Africa this morning. Let's start by discussing these coalition talks. A lot of attention is focused primarily on the supposed talks between the Democratic Alliance. A coalition that you can see working is the party that lost the majority but still has the most votes, and the second party is the DA. Could that be a marriage in your mind that could work?"

Cyril Ramaphosa
ANC President

"Good morning and good morning to South Africa. Absolutely,  our landscape has changed dramatically, and you know now it's a matter of coalition, but the challenge is what kind of coalition?"
